I just drank a Zima for the first time since high school.
While at Reasor's tonight, I stumbled across the display and had to get a six pack.
I mentioned in one of my first blogs that the first time I got drunk, it was when I drank Zimas and Jolly Ranchers. The year was 1998. I was around 17 and working with college girls.
I don't remember the last time I drank one, but it was probably in 1999.
So I busted out the Zima and surprised a group of friends hanging out in my backyard.
"It tastes like high school," Ashley said after taking a drink of her watermelon Zima.
Leena, a Saudia Arabian , was a little confused about this cultural icon of the late 90s. "Americans are weird," she said.
"It tastes like Sprite," said Margaret. "Well not a Sprite, but one of those cheap ones like Sprite."
Ben couldn't finish his and switched to Bud Light.
I took a swig of mine, and it definitely tasted like I remembered. Nothing extraordinary. It took a while for my Jolly Rancher to add to the flavor.
Overall no one was really that excited about drinking Zima the more they drank.
After letting her Jolly Rancher dissolve, Ashley said it tasted like straight sugar. She gave it a 2 out 10.
While I tended to enjoy mine more than most, I was reminded that like lots of stuff in life, things from the past are often best left there.
